Download and install disk editor freeware. Insert USB drive into your computer
and answer the following:
what is the file system?
what is the volume name?
what is the drive capacity?
how many files are stored on the drive?
what is the serial number?
Provide details of the volume geometry.

bytes per sector
cluster size
maximum file size
FAT offset
root directory offset
Using OS capability or other tool change the volume name to cecs
Format the drive as FAT Can you format the drive to NTFS Other filing
systems? Test one or more and indicate which ones worked below.
With the drive formatted as FAT write the first bytes below starting at
offset in both hexadecimal and ASCII.

Open notepad and create a test file test.txt Add some random text to the file
for example bcbgmaxamaria or your name or whatever you like. Save the file to
the usb drive. Using disk editor find the file and indicate the offset of the first byte
here
Using disk editor find the information in the FAT table related to the file and
copy it below.
Delete the file. What happens to the FAT table entry for the file. Can you
recover the file by editing the FAT table? How? Describe how to recover the file below.
