StandardAero provides a variety of maintenance,
repair, and overhaul services to the aviation
industry, including repair of gas turbine engines.
It has over 4,000 employees and a dozen major
locations in Winnipeg, the United States, Europe,
Australia, and Asia. In the 1990s, among other
things, StandardAero reorganized its repair
facilities into a cellular layout. Instead of a job
shop layout where similar machines are bunched
together, StandardAero segmented the repair
process and also grouped similar parts into same
cells. Each cell is operated by a self-managed
team whose performance is measured and
displayed in front of the cell. StandardAero has
become so proficient at conversion into cellular
layout that it started a division that sells this
service to other engine repair facilities.
StandardAero is now owned by Veritas Capital.discuss
