Project Management - Control Change Requests - Part 6: Execution
Objective: for students to understand how changes may impact a project and implementing project changes. Stimulates critical thinking, collaboration, problem solving and coursework integration.
Changes to project plans may occur due to planning oversights, new opportunities, or unforeseen events. Changes require modification to work such as reorganizing personnel, trading off among time, cost and performance, etc. Remember that there are may factors that are part of a project plan and the monitoring and control process will not always be successful.
Change Control Request:
Assume that a majour change has happened in your project. Let's say that an unforeseen event has occurred. For example, an important machine for a book publishing project that cannot be fixed without extra time and a large sum of money is needed. This will delay the project and lead to changes.
Define your unforeseen event and the characteristics of this event. This will impact your project. How will it be impacted? What changes will be required to get your project back on track?
