Description

Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) provides graphical notation for specifying processes in a business process diagram based on flowcharting techniques.

BPMN supports business process modelling for both technical users and business users by providing notation that is intuitive to business users but is able to represent complex semantic.

Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) can-successfully be applied in order to represent Hospital Admission and guidelines in a standardized way by giving a more understandable high-level description of evidence-based medical practice. Below are some suggested steps that a patient goes through to get admitted to hospital.

Hamilton General Hospital Admission

When a patient is admitted to Hamilton General Hospital, their admission begins when they arrive for an appointment or when they are brought in by an ambulance. Here are the steps of this process:

If they have an appointment, they register or sign in with the hospital staff; if they come in an ambulance, they go to the emergency room and then an operating room as per the hospital staffs assessment.

The patient hands their OHIP health card to the staff and fills out the patient form so that their information can be registered into the hospitals information system.

Next, they wait to be called in by the doctor and have a consultation regarding their issue.

The doctor either chooses a stay-in hospital service or provides treatment and prescriptions using the patient management system. The patient can then leave, and the process ends.

If the patient requires a procedure in the operating room, the medical staff prepare for surgery by preparing the room, patient and relevant documents.

After performing the surgery, the doctor will most likely decide that the patient should stay in the hospital for further treatment. The administrative employee prepares the patient's file and register them in the system. A room is prepared by a nurse. Patient enrolment will thus be completed.

If the patient requires a stay in the hospital, the doctor plans the treatment using the patient management system, which includes regular meetings, monitoring, diagnostic measures, and medication. The treatment in hospital should be performed professionally to ensure patient safety.

When all of the treatments have been completed, the doctor can discharge, the patient or recommend that they remain in the hospital. If the patient is to extend their stay, the treatment process resumes.

If the patient is discharged, a final meeting is carried out between the doctor and the patient to discuss the rules of behaviour, arrange further appointments, write a prescription and provide a discharge letter using the patient management system.

At the end, administrative staff registers the discharge in the system. In addition, if the patient requires transportation, it is ordered for them. The process ends when the patient leaves the hospital.

Use any BPMN tool of your choice, model the process of this practice.

Connection Objects

Swim-lanes

Artifacts

2. All necessary text to describe the Diagram. This can be in the Diagram on in accompanying dictionary/glossary.

3. A small introduction that includes the title, small introduction to BPMN and how can be efficient for such activities with brief examples.
