Chapter $06$: Creating a WBS

For this assignment, you will create a WBS for one of these options.

Option $1$: Building a Dog House

You have decided to build a dog house in your back yard for your fully$-$grown German

shepherd. Your friend has agreed to help you with this project since it needs to be

completed in $30$ days.

Option $2$: Moving

You have decided to move from your current $1-$bedroom apartment to

another. You need to be out of your current apartment in $30$ days $($at the

end of the month$)$ and can move into your new apartment the next day

$($on the first of the month$).$ You estimate that it will take you two weeks to

unpack and get settled.

Instructions

Follow the steps below to decompose the project into major deliverables, sub$-$deliverables, and

activities$/$work packages.

Step $1$: List the highest level requirements$/$deliverables$.$

Step $2$: Break up each high level requirement into sub$-$deliverables. $($Hint: deliverables and sub$-$

deliverables will be$\_$nouns$).$ Keep breaking down sub$-$deliverables until you are at the lowest

level that still makes sense.

Step $3$: Break down each of the lowest sub$-$deliverables into work packages or activities $($Hint:

Work packages will be verbs$).$

Step $4$: Review work packages and WBS to make sure the project is complete. Ask yourself, if

you "add up$"$ all the work packages, sub$-$deliverables, and deliverables, would your project be

complete? If not, then you are missing a deliverable or work package.

Step $5$: Submit the WBS
