In this lab exercise you will be developing a database Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD)for a simple school system that would track what classes are available, which instructors teach them and what students take them.
First, on scratch paper make a list of the data fields you would need, organize them by category (these become your tables) and then decide what fields may be in two or more of the tables (these become your PK/FK relationships). Review back over Chapter 3 and/or do some Internet searching on ERDs.
Your diagram should show the tables and fields in each table, as well as, the relationships between tables and which fields would be used to make the relationship.
This may be a challenging exercise for some of you and though I do not expect perfection I do expect you will put some time and effort into the process.
Your diagram can be created as a Word or even Excel file or you could hand draw it and take a picture and submit as a jpeg as long as it is clear.
I have posted a Sample ERD for you to use as a reference of what it should look like, though it is for another type of data so it is simply an example...
Note - you do not actually need to build a database, just create the ERD.
