Cheating, which includes plagiarism, is defined as any dishonest or deceptive conduct or attempted conduct by which individuals or teams of individuals use or attempt to use unauthorized aids, assistance, materials and methods to represent their academic work$($s$),$ as other than they are. Cheating is a serious educational offense. Plagiarism occurs where a student represents the work or ideas of another person as his$/$ her own. ALL students will sign an Academic Honesty statement that includes a brief definition of Plagiarism and Cheating and references the Policies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University for a full and complete explanation of the University policies along with details of the policy regarding the consequences for students found cheating and$/$or committing plagiarism. This is to clearly bring to the forefront and attention of students that neither is acceptable, nor is it in any way acceptable to cheat or plagiarize due to ethnic, religious, cultural or any other grounds a student may wish to bring forward. Failure to sign the Academic Policy Statement will be interpreted as the student disagreeing with this policy and that they plan to commit either or both cheating or plagiarism. As such, student$$s papers and reports and any other assignments will not be evaluated for a grade as it is assumed that the student has committed either Plagiarism or cheating offensives. A fundamental principle of academic, business, and community life is honesty. Violation of this ethical concept will result in penalties ranging from a grade of $"$F$"$ or ZERO on the assignment, case, project or course to dismissal from the University.
