Choose 2 quantitative random variables that you would like to study. Identify what your population is and the sampling technique you will use. I will allow you to use data that has been posted online or in print, but you must cite your sources. You of course may take your own data as well. Once the above are defined, obtain approval from your instructor to start collecting data. I would like to make sure that your variables are appropriate and that you will easily be able to collect paired data for them. This will save everyone a lot of time. Sample and obtain data for both random variables on at least 25 subjects. Note: The random variables must be paired to each other. For all of the items below, strongly consider using Microsoft Excel or a similar program to construct tables, charts, and do the regressions. You may have to put in some time to learn how to use the software, but the calculations are much easier to do there than they are by hand. TI graphing calculators will do all of the necessary calculations, but won't make the graphs for you. Display the data with a scatter plot. Perform a linear regression of the variables to determine the equation of the line of best fit and state the correlation coefficient. Was the correlation positive, negative, or approximately zero? Does it match your prediction or do you find the result surprising? Submit your work as a spreadsheet or word processor file, a video, a picture, or a link to a website.
