Choose a process or multi-step task from a past, current, future, or imaginary workplace. You will be writing a memo that has a set of instructions for completing a task/process at that specific workplace/company. Companies create step-by-step sets of instructions to help workers carry out routine tasks/processes with either physical materials (e.g., spatula and beef) and/or intangible materials (e.g., computer software). The purpose of a written set of instructions is to achieve consistency, efficiency, a certain level of quality, uniformity, regulation, and/or safety. Format: Content: Use numbered steps/instructions, disclaimers and warnings as needed, and feedback after the relevant step as necessary so that your reader can successfully complete the task Include an introduction/context Include a purpose statement (e.g., what will the reader be doing/able to do?) Visuals are optional No outside sources allowed: You cannot re-write or look at an existing set of instructions to create this document. You must be able to successfully complete the process yourself. This document shows you how to check your Outlook Account folders and settings to make sure that you are able to receive and find emails from appropriate senders. The three most likely causes for not receiving or finding emails are: Emails being automatically sorted into Outlook folders other than the Inbox The sender's email address being on your personal blocked senders list The sender's email not being on your personal safe senders list Automatic Sort to Outlook Folders The most likely cause for not being able to find an email is that Outlook has an auto-sort function that puts suspicious emails in folders other than the Inbox. The most common folders are the "Other" folder and the "Junk" folder. 1. To check to see if emails are incorrectly being sorted into your "Other" folder: 1.1 Navigate to your Outlook Inbox. 1.2 Click on the "Other" tab at the top left of the screen.NOTE: If you find an email here that should be in your "Focused" folder, right click on the email and select "Always Move to Focused" from the dropdown menu. 2. To check to see if emails are incorrectly being sorted into your "Junk" folder: 2.1 Navigate to your Outlook Inbox. 2.2 Click on the "Junk" folder in the left-hand navigation menu. NOTE: If you find an email here that should be in your inbox, right click on the email and select "Not Junk" from the dropdown menu.Blocked Senders List The second most common reason you may not be receiving email from certain senders is due to the blocked senders list. An email address or domain can accidentally be put on the blocked senders list through clicking the wrong button or not understanding the Outlook action. 3. To check to see if an email address or domain is on your blocked senders list: 3.1 Open your Outlook inbox. 3.2 Select the Home tab. 3.3 Click on the icon that looks like a person with a crossed out red circle. 3.4 Select "Junk E-mail Options" from the dropdown menu. 3.5 Click on the "Blocked Senders" tab from the menu box that pops up. 3.6 Check to see if any email addresses or domains are blocked that shouldn't be. If any email addresses or domains, such as the companywide email domain "@service.govdelivery.com", shouldn't be blocked, select the email address or domain, click "Remove", and click "OK".Safe Senders List As a last resort, an email address or domain can be added to the safe senders list. This lets Outlook know that you always want to receive emails from this address or domain, and they will appear in your inbox. 4. To add an email or domain to your safe senders list: 4.1 Open your Outlook inbox. 4.2 Select the Home tab. 4.3 Click on the icon that looks like a person with a crossed out red circle. 4.4 Select "Junk E-mail Options" from the dropdown menu. 4.5 Click on the "Safe Senders" tab from the menu box that pops up. 4.6 Click "Add".4.7 Type in the email address or domain you want listed as safe and click. For example, for companywide emails, type in @service.govdelivery.com. 4.8 Click "OK" to add the sender to the list. 4.9 Click "OK" to save the changes.
