CIO Technology Evaluation

Goal

Consider numerous IS/IT technology tools (software, hardware, applications, etc.) discussed this semester and advantages of implementing these tools into the organization.

Topic

Throughout the semester, we have discussed many different types of technology tools, from artificial intelligence to virtual reality to cloud computing to SAP to social networking to mobile apps and beyond. Based on the interview with your CIO, you learned about many of the technologies used by your organization.

Now think about other IS/IT technology tools that we discussed this semester. Identify one IS/IT technology tool that you believe would offer advantages if implemented in your organization. List the technology and why you believe it would be a good fit for your organization. What benefits would the technology provide? What potential pitfalls are there, and how would you overcome them? Include at least 1 inline text citation to support your assertions. Based on cost, usability, potential advantages and disadvantages, would you recommend that your organization pursue this technology?

Audience

Your manager attended a course on emerging technologies. He heard you were pursuing a WebMBA and wanted to see if you had any ideas on technologies that could be used at your organization. He asked you to put your ideas in memo format, and since he's very busy, he asked you to limit your ideas to one page (he's busier than your other manager in Project 6, who allowed two pages).
