Civil liberties is all about freedoms that are guaranteed to the individual; it is about what government
Question:
Civil liberties is all about freedoms that are guaranteed to the individual; it is about what government cannot do. For example, the last section of the fifth amendment in the United States Constitution states: "...nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation."
So, how government taking private property (eminent domain)? Is our system for eminent domain, the taking of private property fair and reasonable? Why/why not?
Potentially, any person that owns land and/or any building (home, business, etc.) can be impacted by this civil liberty issue...the taking of private property for public use (The Supreme Court in the 2005 Kelo case expanded the definition of public use to include public benefit...do you agree? Why?) with just compensation (what is this?).?
