Objective:

Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to identify the mostly used PLC Functions, Construct I/O Tables with given and/or additional input devices and functions, and Construct Timing Diagrams for developing the automated solution of a given process.

Student Instructions:

Answer and complete the following questions. This activity has a value of 25 points. You will have only one (1) attempt to upload your answers by Assignment in Blackboard. The deadline for this activity can be found in "Tools" located in "Calendar" in the Blackboard platform.

1. What 3 things must be known before deciding to use a type of counter? List them.

2. For the following circuit, answer the questions below:

a) How long does the flashing light stay ON?

b) How long does the flashing light stay OFF?

c) Modify the circuit so that the output is on for 1.3 seconds and off for 1.2 seconds.

d) Modify the circuit so that the output is on for 2.5 seconds and off for 1.7 seconds.

e) Construct a timing diagram for the last modified circuit.

3. Draw the ladder logic of a program that will turn ON a light, after a switch 0001 has been closed 10 times. Push button 0002 will reset the counters. Use an I/O table to develop such a program.

4. Develop a program that will do the following:

Latch on an output B 25 seconds after input A has been turned ON.

After A is pushed, there will be a 10 second delay before input A can have any effect again.

After A has been pushed 3 times, B will be turned OFF.

Use an I/O table and timing diagram to develop such a program.
