Design Report:
I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This section contains a narrative summary of the project, how you solved it and what your principal results are. Include sketches, diagrams, tables, or graphs, as appropriate. The bottom line: the executive summary should stand alone. A reader who wants a quick overview of your work should be able to read and understand this section without referring to the appendices. The narrative portion of the executive summary should be no more than two typewritten pages long.
The executive summary contains:
Cover Page: Contains the group number, the names of students that are part of the group, course number and a title for the term project
Statement of the Problem: What are you required to do
Assumptions: What information must be assumed in order to solve the problem?
General Approach: What analyticalmathematical tools did you use to solve it
Results: What are the calculated results of your analysis? How do you interpret these results?
Conclusions: What is your answer to the problem?
II APPENDICES: This section contains all of the calculations andor computer analyses which support the results and conclusions described in the executive summary. Calculations are handwritten neatly on engineering graph paper and computer based using excel. Use a straightedge for all sketches and diagrams. In presenting engineering calculations, always leave good footprints such that a reader who is unfamiliar with the problem can understand the basis for each of your equations, numerical calculations, results, and conclusions.
