Coarse aggregate and fine aggregate was procured from our local supplier. A Sieve analysis of the

recently delivered coarse aggregate was conducted. The measurements are summarized below.

Required:

Calculate percentages passing, total percentages retained in each sieve size to the nearest $0\mathrm{.}1\%$ on the

basis of the total mass of the initial sample.

Plot the percent passing versus the sieve size on a semilog graph.

For the coarse aggregate, determine the size number $($i$.$e$.,$ #$8,$#$357?)$ that the aggregate best

corresponds to $($see ASTM C$33).$ Plot the percentage passing versus the grading limits for the

aggregate size identified.

For the fine aggregate, determine if the gradation meets the requirements of ASTM C$33$ for fine

aggregate.

For the fine aggregate, determine the fineness modulus of the material.
