The purpose of this assignment is to explore the job market in the area you plan to pursue your next employment. You will evaluate what qualifications and skills are required for the job you would like to have. In addition, you will evaluate the language and descriptions employed in the online job marketplace. At the end of this assignment, you will be knowledgeable about what is specifically required for your job search documents.
Task
Page #1: The Job Posting
Create a job posting that you or your classmates would want to apply for, and for which any of them could be shortlisted. It must include:
- a short description of the job
- at least 3 qualifications
- at least 5 skills/abilities the applicant should demonstrate
- the expected compensation / salary for the position
- a contact person's name
- and a complete mailing address / contact information
You may add other details that you find consistently appear in the job postings you research.
Page #2: The Research (Job Postings)
In order to complete this assignment, you will have to research a minimum of 5 similar job postings to get a clear picture of the related field. On the second page of your document, include links to 5 postings [or the information of individuals you spoke to] that are similar to the job posting you are creating. They do not all have to be for the same exact job, but they must be in a similar field. For example, if I were applying for a football coaching job, I could include 2 postings for a head coach at a college program, 1 posting for a head coach at a high school program, 1 posting for a strength and conditioning coach for a college program, and 1 posting for an assistant coach/special teams coach with a semi-pro team.
Assessment
There are no specific formatting requirements for these two documents, as long as all the information is included and is clearly organized. You may put the information in a table or list it with headings. Please use Times New Roman, 12pt. font.
The samples in Moodle are meant to help you generally understand the concept of the ad. The requirements of this assignment have been slightly modified compared to what was required for that sample, so be sure you read our assignment carefully.
