" The hearing I selected was published April 28, 2022, entitled "Oversight of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network". FinCEN is the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network in the United States, which is responsible for detecting outside threats o the US as well as money laundering and it is in compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

The hearing touched on whether FinCEN has the capacity to accomplish the responsibilities that have been set forth to the organization, and question how this is currently accomplished as well as how it will continue to keep safeguarding the financial system as more threats become available. For example, they mentioned how bank accounts are been hacked or misused and question how FinCEN has acted in order to address this issue.

FinCEN stated how data collected is used and who it can be shared too. They shared how the FinCEN information is used by las enforcement agencies to identify prosecutions; however, were unable to provide concrete statistics of their work. FinCEN did try to address the questions as best as possible, but there seemed to be a lack of information and data to support the organization's actions.

I think the public theory group did a good job questioning the weaknesses of the organization and bringing up points that are, or could be, of concern to the public, and they also stated the benefits to the public such as minimize the burden of filling. They also suggested actions that they would like FinCEN to take in order to better protect small businesses, personal identifiable information, and hold FinCEN accountable to their actions and inactions."
