While this definitely saves in overhead costs, it is evident that having only one facility could result in significant loss if something were to occur. For example - if DHL had more than one distribution center it is likely that a significant amount of less KFCs would have been shut down and knowing that the accident had occurred DHL could have leaned on the other distribution centers to make deliveries. With this, they could have not sent their lorries out and create an immense amount of waste. The waste combined with the number of restaurants shut down created a large loss for KFC. How could project management helped prevent this situation? I think project management could have helped with a socio-technical approach. With having only one distribution plant it is important for all logistics to be planned out and scheduled efficiently and effectively. This is also referred to as the science of the approach. But
