This step in the investigation provided crucial evidence and information including images of the money orders, the drop addresses and names of those involved, and other valuable information that led to other leads and identifications in the investigation. If the money was not followed, I believe this investigation would have ended very differently. This would be because if the money wasn$$t followed, the investigators would not have obtained the information that they did such as identities and where the money was originating from and going to and would not have had a trail to follow and trends to consider when investigating. They also would have not been able to identify the shell accounts and drop addresses and other suspicious activity that was recovered once the money was being followed. $$A money laundering method that was uncovered during the investigation would have been the use of shell companies to launder the money discreetly and to be able to transfer money back and forth without being able to trace it back to them. Another method used was drop addresses where they would put temporary addresses to have the packages delivered so it would not be traced back to their actual residence. What surprised me most about this case would be the lengths of which these criminals will take to commit theft and fraud. The different methods and techniques used were so fascinating but also the methods and techniques used by law enforcement throughout the investigation was also so interesting. One interesting part in the investigation was the credit card processors and the extensive information they provided in relation to the case.
