Congratulations! You have been hired as the network administrator for NewCo, a tech startup company. This is a brand new business, and you are in charge of designing their network infrastructure.
Requirements:
There are computers in this office, divided into five departments as shown in the table:
Department Subnet

# of Computers
Notes
Shipping
All computers are desktops. The shipping department is too far away to use copper Ethernet cabling m so a fiber optic connection is required.
IT support
All computers are desktops. Static IPs or DHCP may be used. All computers are desktops. Static IPs or DHCP may be used. desktops, laptop, DHCP server. The laptop connects using WiFi. The laptop must use DHCP
desktops, DNS server, Web server. The servers must use static IP addresses.
IP ADDRESSING: USE SUBNETS IN THE RANGE
You have already managed to acquire some of the equipment you need. These are shown in the Packet Tracer workspace.
Tasks:
It is your job to design, configure, and implement the network infrastructure:
Create a unique subnet for each department within the range provided.
o Install and configure the type and number of computers shown in the requirements table.
o Add additional networking equipment needed to complete the network connections.
o Label each subnet with its network address. Keep the workspace organized.
o Servers must use static IP addresses. The laptop must use DHCP You can configure the other
computers to use either DHCP or static addressing or a combination
Configure the routers and switches:
o Configure each router interface port as required for its the attached subnet.
o Set the linelevel password to cisco and the privileged exec secret password to class on each
router and switch.
o Connect the console interface of at least one router to one of the IT desktops connect only one
router console interface if you have multiple routers
o Provide each switch with a descriptive hostname and display name the department name, for
example
Configure the wireless access point:
o Set the SSID to NewCoPrivate.
o Use WPA authentication, with a key of NCRuLz is zero

Configure the DNS and Web servers:
o Add an A record to the DNS record pointing wwwnewco.com to the web servers IP address. o Make sure the Web server is operating and accessible from all network PCs The default web
page can be used.
Using Packet Tracer
Use Cisco Packet Tracer to complete this project.
Download the starting file COMPFFinalProject.pkt
The starting file has some equipment already loaded onto the workspace. You can use all, some, or none
of this equipment in your project.
Additional equipment and cabling will be required. You can add these from the device selection box.
Use PCPT for desktop computers and ServerPT for the servers.
Recommendation: use the Cisco for your subnet switches
Keep your network topology neat and organized. Use the Place Note feature of Packet Tracer to label
the network addresses of your subnets.
Tip: Save your project often and make backup copies!
Completing the Project
Use the grading rubric to check your progress. Test your network to make sure all objectives are complete before handing in your assignment!
When completed, upload your final project packet tracer file to the DL drop box.

Objectives
Points
Design:
Use unique nonoverlapping subnet address ranges for each department.
Add network address labels for each departments subnet.
Keep the network topology neat and organized.
Configure descriptive names on your routers and switches.
Implementation:
Configure console access for at least one router.
Use correct cabling for all connections.
Configure all static hosts with IP subnet mask, gateway and DNS addresses.
Configure the Web, DNS and DHCP services on the servers.
Configure all up router interfaces with the correct IP address and subnet mask.
Configure the wireless access point.
Functional Test:
Verify working console access to the router from the connected PC
Verify passwords are enabled on all routers and switches.
Verify all computers using DHCP successfully obtain a valid configuration.
Ensure you can ping between computers in the network.
Verify that the laptop is connected to the wireless access point
Ensure all user computers can access wwwnewco.com.
TOTAL PROJECT POINTS:
Extra Credit:
Complete the project using only subnets within a single address range
Enable telnet access to one router with the password Pass
