Company A is a consulting partnership associated with an accounting firm. Here the emphasis always provides broad general services to meet clients' needs in a professional manner, under partner supervision. The result is reliable but risk-averse customer service; and belief in the company that it could turn its hands for anything. Since the 'product' is seen by many people such as the report at the end of the task, the close supervision of the task and especially report writing is considered important and is reflected by careful attention to monitoring consulting activities, as a way to ensure professional service, utilization time and the control of costs. This was supported by a super-structure of partners, many of whom were chartered accountants, whose role was not always very clear but who jealously guarded a fragmented and informal organization structure, and cultural trappings, preserving their influence, autonomy, and power. By the late 2020s, new senior partners believed that the consultancy lacked focus in the face of more targeted competitors, but it was an organization with any number of ways to frustrate the change agent.
