Competing Values Framework

The Competing Values Framework $($CVF$)$ is the most widely used approach for classifying organizational culture. This framework centers around four general culture types$-$clan, adhocracy, market, and hierarchy, with each type illuminated further in terms of the general thrust of each type, as well as the means and ends sought within each particular culture type. This activity is important because the CVF provides a practical way for managers to understand, measure, and change organizational culture.
