One way this is accomplished is through lean management. The lean approach is characterized by continuous improvements, flattened organizational structures, and the efficient use of resources. While the value of this approach has been verified by major industries, including the automobile industry, its implementation into the aviation industry has been met with challenges. Creating a lean environment requires support from senior management as well as the ability of middle managers to monitor and implement the program. While some changes are initially welcomed, sustaining those changes can be difficult.

In an effort to improve the efficiency of your departments, your CEO has hired Lean Consultants to observe and implement needed changes. These changes will promote the efficient use of resources, reduce cost, and encourage a safety culture. Additionally this change will employ financial improvement that will allow the organization to keep up with global competitors. Unfortunately, your employees do not support the initiative. Using your module readings as a foundation evaluate the various leadership methods that promote the efficient use of resources, develop cost reduction programs, and employ continuous financial improvements. Determine an appropriate leadership method that you, as the supervisor can take in order to uphold these changes.
