Complete the Evaluate Your Data exercise in Appendix C of The Practical Guide to HR Analytics. The purpose of this assignment is to build a business case/plan for identifying the data therefore I recommend that you identify each step in your assignment. For Steps 1 and 3 are asking for you to write something out in a narrative format. Steps 2 and 5 could be either narrative or a table. Use APA Style. Must course materials in developing your answer (readings, videos, and discussion boards). Use other sources outside of the course may be used to bolster ideas. You may include other factual and/or hypothetical information that is needed to successfully complete the assignment (this is a graduate program so I am leaving it up to you to add more depth). Submit via Turn-It-In SPECIAL NOTES ON PAPER CONSTRUCTION You will want to separate your paper into the following the sections. You may title each section or you may give some other indication of a section by using paragraphs. Title Page. Introduction: A narrative explaining the purpose of the assignment, your company name and industry, if you are assuming the role of HR Partner or Line manager working with an HR Partner. Step 1. Identify the Business Challenge: A narrative with 1a and 1b as paragraphs. You only need to identify three business challenges to decide upon and then explain your thought process in the one you chose. Step 2. Identify the People Side of the Business Challenge: Either a narrative or a table. If a table, provide 1-3 sentence narrative explaining the reason for this step. You do not need to put real people's names in the assignment, you should replace the names of people with the names of divisions, teams, or departments. This is where knowing your company's structure can help. Step 3. Write a Challenge/Problem Statement: A narrative where you present the statement and then explain how you came about developing it by sharing the five Ws. Step 4. Identify the Relevant Data You Have Access To: A table that mimics the book. Complete the table based upon the helpful information given in section. I am assuming that you will not know if the "Relevant Data/Metric" is available so make the assumption that it is and make a best guess of where/how you would retrieve it. The "Evaluation" section has both pros and cons for you to determine if that data is relevant for your Business Challenge and/or if there will be issues with the data. Again, I am assuming you might not know so make your best logical reasoning. The exercise of working through the process is most important. After the table write a narrative about how this process went. You may include in the narrative if you already know if this data is readily available (especially if you are an HR Partner) or if you are not an HR Partner did it provide you with clearer understanding of what data to ask about if you were to request an analytics project. Step 5. Put the Data in Context: A narrative that you will write explaining to which extent you will run benchmarking (internal and external). This is an individual decision that you will want to explain your thoughts (should be one to two paragraphs). Special Note: If you are practically applying this at your company then you may decide to tack this on to the table in Step 4 or come up with a different approach. As this is an assignment for a course it is understood that you may not have all of the knowledge or access to resources. Step 6. Identify the Data You Wish You Had: Write a short narrative as to why this step is helpful in practice (about one paragraph). Special Note: The book calls for Step 6 to be in a table format to identify the gaps in your data. As this is an assignment for a course it is understood that you will not be able to determine the data gaps. Conclusion: A narrative where you self-reflect on the assignment and what you learned. Personal Reflection. A narrative of what you already knew, what you learned, what surprised you, and how this information will help you in the future
