Computer-Assisted Qualitative Data Analysis Software (CAQDAS) is undeniably an excellent way to store and maintain research content, with some programs storing or accessing digital audio and video and some that can download Internet data such as social media content (Miles et al., 2018). Regarding the upcoming assignment, I choose to use NVivo software. I initially chose it because it is compatible with my Mac operating system. Other reasons for choosing NVivo are that it seems user-friendly, with plenty of tutorials for the end-user. The software can pull content from multiple places and files (i.e., survey monkey, endnote, web), and it seems to make coding less chaotic. However, NVivo is just a sophisticated method of classification; ultimately, the success of the software depends on the researcher's ability to extract useful information from the data. As Salmona and Kaczynski (2016) eloquently warned, don't blame the software. To reiterate, it is still up to the researcher to extract, organize and interpret codes and themes to determine their meaning. Simply put, although the software makes things tidier and more orderly, the analyst still has to think and put in the effort.
