conduct a simple linear regression model exercise.. The deadline of this project will be July 5th, 11:59PM, and you will need to upload the PDF version of a paper to the Canvas. Please type full names of your group members in the assignment and name your pdf file as (lists of group members) Firstname_Lastname_ProjectHW. In each group, students will receive equal credits and only one member will need to submit the project assignment if you work as a group. Total points of this assignment will be 100 points. One dataset, named as "Executive_Compensation_data" in Excel format, will be uploaded to Canvas. The data contains compensation for chief executive officer (CEO), return on assets (ROA), return, that is the change in price of an asset or investment, and total assets for each firm. You may use Excel for any calculations or any graphing. Other statistical software packages like R, Stata, Number will be allowed to use. Various research papers have examined the relationship between CEO compensation and other related factors. For instance, Jensen and Murphy (1990) proposed that CEO compensation is not dependent of firm performance due to political pressures. However, relatively more recent research from Hall and Liebman (1997) showed that there is a strong relationship between executive's compensation and firm value. In addition, by using GMM models, Yasar (2005) concluded that there is a strong link between the economic performance of the firms and CEO compensation. Al-Shammari (2021) proposed that risk-taking behavior of executives mediate the relationship between executive payment and firm performance, and the results showed strong and positive relationship. In this project, your objective is to examine the relationship between CEO compensation and the size of firm by using the given dataset. The main research question for this project is: how does firm size affect to CEO's compensation? In research papers, the size of firm can be calculated as the natural logarithm of total assets, but you will use total assets as a measure of firm size in this project.
