Conduct research and write an essay on:

“The framework for financial reporting in the UAE”.

Your report should address – among other things:

• The generally accepted accounting principles among UAE organizations;
• The legislative requirements governing financial reporting;
• The regulations and other requirements governing financial reporting;
• The institutions governing financial reporting;
• The report must highlight the specific requirements for financial reporting and how these differ between different the public and private sector and between different sectors in the UAE.

Structure of the report

Cover page

Introduction, giving some background into financial reporting frameworks generally and outlining the objectives of the report.

Body of the report, with different sections – appropriately titled - representing discussions of each of the issues in the assignment.

Conclusion, outlining your take on the objectives you set out to achieve in the report as outlined in the introduction.

Marking Guidelines

The report will be marked based on the following criteria:

• Presentation.
• Evidence of relevant, thorough research of relevant documents.
• Comprehensive coverage of relevant issues affecting financial reporting.
• Appropriate writing skills including critical thinking, logical flow, thorough editing, and consistent referencing.
• Evidence of teamwork including equitable contribution to the project.

Guidelines for writing essays

• Pay close attention to the UAEU’s policy on plagiarism. The consequences for plagiarism are very severe.
• Make sure that all sources used are referred to in the text of the essay and linked to your list of references (bibliography).
