1. Consider a random variable to study (some examples include thenumber of hoursa college student studies, or thenumber of milesa college student commutes to school, or thenumber of hoursa college student exercises each week). The variable should be continuous data.
2. Gather sample data from more than 30 individuals and calculate the sample mean and sample standard deviation (use technology for this). Identify the sample mean and sample standarddeviation.
3. Describe to your classmates what you are studying and why you are interested in studying this particular variable. Describe how you gathered your data.Construct a 95% Confidence Interval for your sample mean (complete all of the following) (see Example 1 on page 345 and information that follows on page 346)

• Identify the degrees of freedom based on your sample size.
• Use Table A-3 to identify the critical value corresponding to the 95% confidence interval for your sample.
• Using this critical value, evaluate the margin of error.
• Using the value of the margin of error and the sample mean of your data, find the values of the confidence interval limits.
• Give the 95% Confidence Interval for your sample mean.
• Give a correct interpretation of this confidence interval.
