battlefield. These nodes have no a priori information about how many other nodes exist, but all nodes

can directly communicate completely reliably over a single shared wireless channel. That is$,$ when any

node broadcasts, all other nodes can hear that broadcast $($or interference, if more than one broadcasts in

the same slot$)$ with probability $1.$ If a node listens in a round and hears neither an $$I$$m alive$$ message

nor interference, then the node hears silence.
