Consider the current Transnet Freight Rail processes of SCM application (governed by National treasury and the PFMA principles of procurement and asset management). Analyse the status of the TFR and consider the application of the current SCM. From your analysis determine if a new direction involving a re-designed or new approach to the SCM, would be appropriate or, whether the existing structure could be improved through modification to the existing logistics functions in the INBOUND/OPERATIONS/OUTBOUND and sales and marketing of the SCM (as per Porters model). Take note that OPERATIONS is also has all the logistics elements inherent in its business and is not to be neglected!
