Consider this prompt from Social Allergen scholars, Cunningham, Barbee, and Druen (1997), given to study participants. As you do so, specifically think about people you currently encounter or have previously encountered in professional settings. Think of people whom you cannot stand to be around, who drive you crazy without them necessarily intending to do so. Consider situations in which you have such strong feelings toward a person that it takes very little for the person to irritate, offend you, or cause physical symptoms. Now that you likely have one or more persons in mind, list the specific behaviors or situations created by the person or persons that you find bothersome: Reflect upon your reactions when you become irritated, offended, or experience physical symptoms.
