Consistent with a State Mandate for a third-party consultant on all state vertical construction projects, you have been selected by the State of South Carolina to advise them on their new District Headquarters and Equipment Service Building for South Carolina Department of Transportation. The State Legislature has appropriated $20 million to complete this project. The project requires the construction of two buildings with attendant site improvements. The buildings will be a 100,000SF Administration building and a 30,000SF Equipment Services building. The Administration building will be divided equally between four departments. The Equipment Services building will annually maintain a fleet of 600 vehicles. Although occasional visits by the general public may occur, the facility will generally serve the staff. In today’s current economic climate, the facility should reflect good stewardship of public funds, yet fit attractively into the classic southern architecture of surrounding buildings in Charleston, SC.
