Context

You are employed as a Support Worker at KAMA Community, Multicultural Service. The service provides assistance to newly arrived migrants and refugees. You are Australian born, whereas most of your colleagues were born overseas and English is their second language. You have recently joined a new team and now work closely with a colleague, named Marcia.

Marcia and her husband (Odi) arrived in Australia from Sudan as refugees. They spent years in a refugee camp in Uganda. On arrival in Australia, Marcia studied a qualification in Community Services and found employment as a Support Worker at the service. Odi, had several qualifications in Sudan, however, these are not recognised in Australia. He has been unemployed since arriving in Australia and has experienced difficulty in finding employment. Odi is the primary carer for their three young children, while Marcia works.
