Contributing factors to low employee pay vary. Employee compensation can be evaluated on location, job classification, skill
Question:
Contributing factors to low employee pay vary. Employee compensation can be evaluated on location, job classification, skill and demand. While economic conditions can play a factor I would closely tie compensation to product whether that be something a company produces or a professional service.
Current market conditions, inflation and understanding post pandemic return to office or not contributes to the challenges in the marketplace. With businesses failing or going bankrupt, work at home efficiencies have created a demand from people greater than jobs and many taking roles for compensation less than what they were previously making. The alternative is to stay unemployed or concede.
Many who concede fail to perform their jobs at adequate levels and typically continue to search while collecting a paycheck. This will also have an impact on the customer and co-workers.
Those who decide to wait will put a strain on government programs and assistance.
If people are compensated for the value add they bring to a company, customers would benefit from services and interactions and co-workers would work together as a team. Those employees who are happy at their place of work will also contribute back to the company. Those companies that have well established programs to help the community or environment would also see greater participation and benefits.
In your replies to at least two peers, address the following questions:
- What specific initiative, practice, or change to your peer's evaluated practice could improve community or employee support?
- What are the benefits and risks of implementing your suggested initiative, practice, or change?
- If you were the primary decision-maker, would you implement your suggested initiative, practice, or change? In other words, do you feel the benefits outweigh the risks? Why or why not?
