You can calculate your grade average in any category of assignments at any time in the semester after applying its drop allowance. Just add together your points earned in one category (CPPA or ESSAYS) and divide that total by the number of assignments in that category given so far in the semester minus the drop allowance. Convert the quotient to a letter grade using the chart above. Calculation of Final Semester Grade Find the grade average for each category using the method described above. Take the numerical grade average from CPPA and multiply by 2. Take the numerical grade average from Essays and multiply by 8. Add these two products and divide by 10. Convert the quotient of that division to a letter grade following the chart above. There is no rounding up at the end of the semester. If you averaged a 9.8 (B+) it is not rounded up to a 10 (A-). These pluses and minuses will not appear on your Palomar transcript. For example, B- will appear on your transcript as a B
