Prompt:

Put yourself in the place of Herb and Dorothy Vogel. In today's world, which emerging artist would you "consider" buying a work from?

Remember the Vogel's rules:

1. You have to like the artwork.
2. You have to be able to afford the artwork.
3. You have to be able to transport the artwork. Include the dimensions of the work in your paper

Assignment:

1. Write a one-page essay based on the prompt.
2. That specific artwork must be for sale and affordable ($0-$5,000).
3. You must reference a specific portion of the documentary in your essay.

Consider these talking points when writing your essay:

• Where did you learn about this artist and their work?
• What draws you to it?
• What is the subject matter?
• Does the artist repeat the same subject matter or does it vary?
• What medium(s) does the artist work in?
• Do you think the artist will ever become "famous" or are they already semi-famous?
• How much does their work sell for?
• Include the artist's website, Instagram, YouTube, Etsy, or Facebook page if they have one. This should be a hyperlink.

Helpful Hints:

• Do not consider a print of an already famous work.
• The artist may not be a family member, neighbor, close high school friend, teacher, etc.
• Non-traditional works of art, such as tattoo, manga, or video art, are completely acceptable. They just need to be for sale. If you have a question, ask me!
• The artwork must be original! It cannot, in the case of Manga be a Manga book, but it can be a standalone cell/print/serigraph. In the case of Video Art, it cannot be a video game.
• Just to be clear...you are NOT actually purchasing an artwork for this project.
