NAME DATE Physics 210 Homework 12 Full work and/or explanations needed for all responses. Four graduated cylinders (GC) whose sensitivity are half of a mL are filled with 50 mL of water. The initial masses of the GC's and water measured on a balance with a precision of a tenth of a gram, are 94.2 + 0.2 g. Next, a sphere is put in one of the GCs, a cube in another, a cylinder in another, and a tetrahedron in the last. All of the objects sink to the bottom. The final water levels in the GCs are 74.2 mL, 74.0 mL, 74.1 mL and 74.3 mL respectively. Use this information to answer the following questions. 1) How do the volumes of these four objects compare? Explain. 2) If we were to put each of the four GC's with water and sunk objects individually on a balance, how would the readings compare? Explain. 3) Could any of the balance readings be less than 94 g? Explain. 4) If the sphere were made of Silly Putty and was reformed into a long, thin cylinder (which still sits at the bottom of the GC and does not stick up out of the water), would the final water level in the GC be the same as above? Explain
