Could you help me with this assignment?

Assignment:

Functions are really the theme of a pre-calculus course. Let's look at non mathematical functions.

My favorite non mathematical function is an oven which bakes cookies! I know that if I put chocolate chip cookie dough in the oven I get chocolate chip cookies. The output is dependent on the input, and unless I put in a different type of dough, the output will be the same for chocolate chip dough. I could also put carrots, a watch or a toy car. However, some things that fit may still be illegal, like how I can't put a kitten in the oven! Then some stuff, like pickup trucks, just won't fit at all.The domain ,all things that fit in the function, can be restricted in two ways: by physical fit or by human restriction.

Your job:

  • Post 1: Come up with a non mathematical function but don't use my example. Find something original!
  • Post 2: Find something in the domain of another person's function. Be sure to explain your reasoning. Then, find something not in the domain of another person's function and explain why it isn't. Find a second function that you can compose with this first function and explain how it works now. What has happened to the domain and range? It's fine to do the third composition to a function that's already had a composition done. Composition can be as many layers as you want! This will be your longest post.
  • Post 3: Finally, what did you learn from this? Discuss your ideas on the relationship to the mathematical composition we are doing this week.

Have fun and be creative!
