Course: Project Management
Question: One week before the event, the organizer of Beertopia has realized that stalls and decoration have not yet been set up. Suppose the organizer is not resource constrained, discuss FOUR possible methods that the organizer can adopt to accelerate the project completion. For each method, provide an example to illustrate it in detail.
Hong Kong Craft Beer Festival 2018- Beertopia Beertopia, is one of the Hong Kong's biggest annual craft beer festivals and it was held on the weekend of 5 and 6 October, 2018 with a new location at the Central Harbourfront where it offers almost 36,000 square meters of open-air space near to the public transportation stations. The goal of Beertopia is to provide an opportunity for people to taste and learn about quality beers they might not be aware of, and to do this in a fun and lively environment. By bringing beer to the forefront, hopefully the festival can help raise the interest of craft beer in Hong Kong. As craft beer tasting was offered, only the customers aged 18 or above were allowed to join this festival. However, a dozen Hong Kong breweries and exhibitors, including Moonzen Brewery, Black Kite Brewery and Gweilo Beer, had pulled out of this craft beer festival because of the rising renting costs charged by the festival organizer, and they believed that it would eventually force the beer price rises. Rohit Dugar, founder of Young Master Ales, one of the breweries boycotting the event, said: "Beertopia has been a craft-beer-focused event, with little or no participation from big brands. But the cost for consumers is creeping up. We told the organizer about this in the last few years, but this year it went too far. It is inevitable that the breweries would pass on cost increases to the consumers, who would pay significantly more for each beer they sampled. Therefore, we decided not to participate in this year's Beertopia." Donald Yeung To-fung, marketing executive for Lion Rock Brewery, said the cost of renting a stall was a major financial concern for the three-year-old brewery. Yeung said "Before it was around HK$20,000 to rent the booth and we would just break even or lose a little bit, but when we inquired about this year's event, we were quoted HK$28,000 to HK$30,000 and so there was no way we would even break even. It is not necessary to hold Beertopia at the Central Harbourfront event space, which is expensive to rent. Craft beer people would go where the event is held, no matter if it is in Kowloon or Central. As an exhibitor, we can now join other events like Wine & Dine, Ocean Park, Lan Kwai Fong Beer & Music Festival." However, Jonathan So, the founder of this event, said that the costs of renting stalls vary depending on the stall size requested by the exhibitors. "We are paying 50 per cent more than last year to rent the Central Harbourfront venue. We do not want to pass the costs to the consumers," he said. "We have to share that with the vendors. Not everyone is happy to participate." Source: https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/food-drink/article/2161685/12-hong-kong- breweries-pull-out-citys-biggest-craft-beerStep by Step Solution
