Suppose that theoretical framework described for model Y=0+1X+, states that coefficient 1 must be positive. Available evidence (sample) consists of 532 observations drawn independently and randomly. When estimating by Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method, it was found that b^1=5.34 , however, pvalue turned out to be equal to 14.23%, therefore, coefficient is not statistically significant, so it is not possible to reject Ho:1=0.

Because observations are independent and randomly selected, researchers assumed that their theoretical framework must be INCORRECT, which is why they will restate it to match evidence. Comment and remember to be brief.
