Create a case study on Alibaba: research the (Website!) entrepreneurs / companys story of the first 5 years and describe:

The entrepreneur(s): background, personality, how did they come to the point where they founded the company

The core strategy -initial idea and business opportunity: relevant information about the industry, target clients, competing offerings (similar and substitute), suppliers (where strategically relevant) and relevant trends

The business model in financial numbers: revenues? investments? costs? profits? (show the big picture and central mechanisms, not details; if you cant find numerical data: use plausible estimates and explain)

The human resources: who (what type of professionals, how many) was needed / when did the need arise, how where the right people hired? (in the absence of data: fill in plausible estimates and explain)

The infrastructure: what was needed / when did the need arise / how was the infrastructure set up (in the absence of data: fill in plausible estimates and explain)

Research an interesting moment in the early stages of the company, that can be told as an anecdote, or alternatively a quote by the founder, and comment on how this sheds light on the case

Identify a moment in the story line where an important decision was made and imagine that the decision makers had made a different decision, and what would have happened then (alternate history)

Create a report of approx. 1000 words presenting your case study
