Based on the scores these students receive on a test or that data shows in general, groupings can be determined. A teacher can group the students based on their level in either mixed groups, so students can support each other throughout the work process or same-level groupings, so each group can be supported in different ways. This benefits the students because they are able to get the support necessary to succeed in the classroom. The teacher will have knowledge on what group needs what type of support to give the students the opportunity to succeed. Based on data, teachers can adjust the support and learning accordingly. Data allows for targeted support for individual students. Without data, teachers would be unaware of what students are excelling or struggling in, making it difficult to give attention to the things they need support in.
