An aircraft that is midway between overhauls (5,000 hours since overhaul, and 5,000 hours remaining to the next overhaul) has an adjustment of $0 (Half-Life).
An aircraft that is in Run-Out condition and awaiting overhaul (0 hours remaining) has a negative value adjustment of -$50,000. In the above example, the total spread is $100,000 (i.e. the cost of an overhaul), and the maximum range up or down from Half-Life is therefore +/-50% of the overall cost of carrying out the task (+/- $50,000).
