After consideration of various options and in consultation with VicRoads, the Golden Plains Shire has decided to erect an entirely new bridge to replace the original.
The new bridge should include the following features:
The standard should be consistent with VicRoads as an Arterial nonurban Road and classified as a C Road
A twolane carriageway for safe passage of vehicles.
The road surface height should not be less than the existing bridge
The carriageway should be wide enough to incorporate bicycle lanes in each direction.
Consideration should be given to material selection on the basis of sustainable production, maintenance costs and full life cycle costs.
Boundary conditions are The new bridge should be located as close as possible to the east of the old bridge whilst leaving sufficient separation for the construction activities and traffic flow to carry on independently.
Your design and plan will be responsible for the road construction necessary to integrate the new bridge as simply as possible into the existing road alignment.
