Once these are established, informal (social) structures will naturally develop. However, relying solely on informal structures can lead to a chaotic work environment. Having worked for three startups in my career, l've experienced firsthand the disorder that arises when there isn't a clear plan and the organization depends too much on social dynamics. Since work ethic and perceptions of productivity vary among individuals, it's important to have standards and formalities from the beginning.
