Creating a Presentation for Key Functions in Calculus

Need presentation that reviews what a function is and discusses four key functions students should know before taking calculus.

Follow the steps to your presentation:

1. Provide the definition of a function. Once you understand what a function is, a few slides on the topic. This part of the presentation should discuss these points:
   • the informal and formal definitions of a function
   • the four ways in which a function can be represented, along with examples
2. Next, research the types of functions that have been covered in your math courses so far. Keep track of the types of functions in a separate document. The list below includes some of the functions you may have covered. Feel free to choose from this list or to come up with your own ideas:
   • polynomial functions
   • rational functions
   • logarithmic functions
   • exponential functions
   • trigonometric functions
   • inverse trigonometric functions
   • piecewise functions
   • composite functions
   • hyperbolic functions
3. Select four function types and slides in the presentation with this information for each type of function:
   • the type of function
   • a definition
   • at least one graphical representation on a coordinate plane
   • a step-by-step process for solving an algebraic problem using that type of function
   • a real-world situation in which this type of function is used
   • other important information about the function, such as trigonometric identities
4. After you've entered all the information for the four types of functions, it's time to finalize and polish your presentation. Here are some presentation guidelines to keep in mind.
