CS'I'SI 12.1 Lab # 4: Power Supply + Multimeter Purpose: lIII'III'hen working with computers there comes times when you may suspect a faulty power supply. 1I"our power supply tester Is elther broken or you may not have one. A fantastic tool to beoome familiar with In electronics Is the multimeter. It can be used to test voltage, current. resistance and continuity. There are two ways to test your power supply. You can either test the PSU when it's disconnected from the motherboard and other PC components. or you can do a live test under load with the PSU connected to all devices in your PE. The 2" method Is more reliable but it presents a greater risk as you could accidentally damage something in your PC. In this lab, you will observe the testing of the PSU when lt's fully connected to your PC. 't'ou will also determine a proper replacement PSU for a desktop PC.
