In this discussion, you will consider barriers to listening and offer suggestions for more effective listening. Instructions:

Step $1$: Respond to the following:

Think of a person in your personal or work life who isn't a good listener. If applicable, this person could be you. Describe this person's poor listening behavior and give an example that shows this person's poor listening skills

What are some barriers to effective listening that you know are a factor for this person? These barriers can include physical and mental distractions, biases and prejudices, lack of appropriate focus, and premature judgment.

What suggestions would you make to help him or her listen more effectively?

Can we improve our listening $--$ is it something that can be learned rather than a trait we are born with?

Connect your observations and experiences to a scholarly source like our textbook.
