Data Analysis Assignment 3

Based upon the statistical methods and tests covered in our textbooks students will fit several linear regression models on a data set using R Studio/R code and will analyze their results in a submitted Word file that includes a copy of their R code.

Data Sets located on home page under data frames link.

Instructions

Submit one Word filewith your name at the top of the documentby Sunday Midnight U.S. Central time of Week 4.

  1. Download from the link above and then load the MLB data frame- it is the same data used in the instructor notes (Week 4: Lecture - Part B1: Correlation & Bivariate Regression Analysis using RStudio,Week 4: Lecture - Part B2: Bivariate Linear Regression, and hereWeek 4: Lecture - Part B3: Bivariate Linear Regression - Checking the Model Assumption of Normality) Either place a copy in your folder (working directory) or upload the data into RStudio Cloud.
  2. Download this R Script your instructor created for you for to do this assignment- PADM 5850 Data Analysis 3.RDownload PADM 5850 Data Analysis 3.R
  3. If you are working in RStudio Cloud, upload the script. Laptop users place a copy of the R Script into your working directory folder and then open it up in RStudio.
  4. Load in the MLB data frames.
  5. In the code, it instructs you perform bivariate analysis (bivariate means two variable relationships) that you are reading about in this Unit. You will run a correlation test, scatterplot & boxplot, a linear regression between variables, plot the regression residuals, and produce a Q-Q plot. Simply copy and paste your output in the R Console for statistical test output into your Word file -and most importantly give an interpretation. Your output does not speak for itself! Interpret the statistical outputs and graphs. I have modeled for you how to interpret the statistics in the lecture notes- use those as you guide. Use the language of the variable (if measured in dollars or percentage for example).
  6. Do ALL the required statistical measures- run the code in this assignment.

Submissions

Data analysis assignments & the comprehensive final analysis should be .doc or .docx files. Statistical output and/or R code will need to be submitted in Word, PDF, or Excel.

Assignments should be double spaced in New Times Roman 12 with 1-inch margins. Students should follow APA writing guidelines and always provide a title page and reference page.
