Calculations and Questions

Tabulate the flow $(\frac{m^3}{s})$ and measured $h_L(m)$ data for each device at both flow rates. You

will need to use the energy equation $b$ come up with a formula to calculate the measured $h_L$

values from the $p$ values.

Calculate the average velocity $(\frac{m}{s})$ for each fitting at each flow rate from continuity $($note

appropriate areas for expansion and contraction$)$ and calculate the velocity head $($m$).$

For the sudden expansion, calculate the appropriate $K$ value from equation $3($sudden

expansion$).$

For the sudden contraction, calculate the appropriate $K$ value from the information in Figure

Compute the predicted $h_L$ from equation $2$ for each device using the determined $K$ values.
