Data-based decisions may pose significant communication challenges if the data analyst (who is mainly involved in the data collection and data analysis phases) and the decision-maker (who interprets and uses the results of the analysis) are not the same person. The data analyst's lack of contextual knowledge as well as the decision-maker's lack of computational knowledge may cause problems. For example, if the decision-maker's data needs are miscommunicated to the big data and analytics experts, inaccurate or insufficient data may be collected and inaccurate analysis may be applied to the data by the analytics expert.
